the legislature passed sb 3, but our fight isn’t over

"Tell Gov. Stitt: Veto SB 3. Trans kids belong here." White Freedom Oklahoma logo on the right, with a photo of a hand-written sign that says "trans right now!'

Today, in front of dozens of 2SLGBTQ+ community members, parents, advocates, and medical professionals, the Oklahoma State Legislature voted to deny access to life saving medical care for trans youth. The hours-long process made it abundantly clear that the bullies in the Oklahoma Legislature are more invested in their reelection campaigns than they are in protecting Oklahoma's most vulnerable.

During the debate on the House floor, Representative Mauree Turner said: "when we pass this kind of legislation, we are creating a generation of isolation." They're right. The discourse around gender-affirming care is toxic and keeps our trans siblings from seeking desperately needed care, and prevents medical professionals from providing it. But we're not stopping here. Thank you to everyone who emailed, called, and showed up in person. We will hold these legislators accountable and we will show trans kids that they are loved, celebrated, and they belong here, with us.

A group of advocates stand in the center of the rotunda at the Oklahoma State Legislature. They are holding trans pride flags and signs that say "support trans youth." Several advocates are wearing white medical coats.

We know that many extremists see this attack as a first step in a larger ban on access to best practice medical care for trans folks, and we're prepared for the next Legislative Session to be the worst to date. We need you. Our kids need you. Together, we're building the Oklahoma we deserve.
